Rapid Delivery of a Custom Isuzu Recovery Truck to the Caribbean

When a fleet is operating in a remote region, reliable support equipment is essential to keep vehicles moving and downtime to a minimum. Recently, we completed a time-critical project involving the supply and export of a fully customised Isuzu recovery truck to a customer in the Caribbean, ensuring they could efficiently support their operational fleet.

This project demonstrates how effective vehicle procurement, technical coordination, and international logistics come together to deliver specialist vehicles where they are needed most.

Understanding the Requirement

Our customer required a dedicated recovery vehicle to provide on-site assistance for their fleet. The key priorities were:

  • Urgent delivery timeframe
  • A robust and reliable Isuzu base vehicle
  • Custom equipment tailored to operational needs
  • Secure export to a Caribbean destination

One of the main challenges was the limited availability of the base chassis within the UK. Speed was critical, so immediate action was taken to locate suitable stock within the Isuzu network.

Sourcing the Base Vehicle

Through our established supply channels, we secured a suitable chassis directly from Isuzu UK stock, enabling the project to move forward without delay. Rapid sourcing is a core part of our vehicle procurement process, particularly when customers are working to tight operational deadlines.

Once secured, the vehicle was transferred for specialist modification to meet the customer’s exact recovery requirements.

Specialist Body Conversion

To ensure the truck could perform reliably in demanding conditions, we coordinated with an experienced UK truck bodybuilder. The conversion included:

  • Installation of a tilt and slide recovery bed mounted to the chassis
  • Construction of the bed from lightweight aluminium to maximise payload and durability
  • Integration of a 10,000lb winch
  • Supply and installation of a Lodar remote control system for safe and efficient operation
  • Addition of full surround hazard lighting, a feature not supplied with the base chassis but specified and installed to enhance operational safety

Close coordination between our team, the bodybuilder, and equipment suppliers ensured all modifications were completed quickly without compromising quality.

Preparing for Export

Once the build was completed and inspected, the vehicle was prepared for international shipment. To provide protection during transit, the recovery truck was carefully loaded into a 40ft container and shipped to its final destination in the Caribbean.

Our end-to-end logistics management ensured a smooth transition from UK build completion to overseas delivery, giving the customer confidence that their investment would arrive safely and ready for service.

Supporting Fleets Worldwide

This project demonstrates the value of experienced coordination when sourcing and exporting specialist commercial vehicles, from locating scarce stock and managing complex customisation to overseeing international shipping. As UK vehicle sourcing specialists, we manage the full process from supplier selection to export, delivering efficient and reliable solutions for organisations operating in remote and demanding markets.
