This project involved delivering a fully customised Mercedes-Benz EQV 90kWh (Premium Plus) — designed not only for comfort, but to function as a mobile meeting space for business use in Japan.
Project Brief
The client required a high-value electric people mover that would allow business meetings to take place while travelling. The rear cabin needed to provide a quiet, comfortable, and professional environment suitable for working on the move.
Once the base vehicle was secured, Interex worked with the customer to agree a detailed conversion specification. Core requirements included:
- Five luxury passenger seats in the rear, configured for comfort and interaction
- Drinks cabinet with practical twin cupholders
- Integrated TV screens for presentations and media
- Roof-mounted aerial with multi-user onboard Wi-Fi
- Electric sliding side doors for ease of access
All requested features were incorporated into the final build.
Creating a True Executive Environment
To support the vehicle’s role as a mobile workspace, Interex also recommended a number of enhancements, which were approved by the customer:
- Extended legroom layout for improved comfort during longer journeys
- Double-glazed panoramic roof to reduce noise and heat transfer
- Quilted headlining for a refined interior finish
- Sound-proofing and insulation package to create a quieter cabin for conversations
- Driver’s partition with a second electric sliding LED screen for privacy and presentations
The interior was finished in Quilted Ultra Soft Nappa Leather in Porcelain, creating a clean, professional appearance suitable for executive use. Design visuals were shared and approved before the conversion began, ensuring the final result matched the client’s expectations.
The Challenge: Premium Quality Without Compromise
Concerns were identified with the interior finish – for a vehicle of this value and purpose, the customer expected a flawless, factory-quality appearance.
In addition, the base vehicle arrived from the manufacturer with a very small defect on the external side of the bulkhead, visible when the side door was opened.
- The experienced upholstery specialist returned to reupholster the side arm of one of the rear chairs, which appeared to have come loose
- A professional paint refinisher attended the vehicle after delivery and corrected the bulkhead defect prior to shipment
- All work was completed and reinspected for quality before export
The Outcome
Delivered in perfect, as-new condition with all specifications met and issues resolved prior to shipment, the finished EQV now operates as a fully equipped mobile meeting space offering comfort, connectivity, privacy, and a quiet environment for business on the move.
